Mission Statement
The Learning College Academy (LCA) supports the mission, vision and values of Wallace State Community College by providing a dynamic environment for the development of a vibrant community of learners. The LCA is dedicated to a learning-centered environment and a quest for excellence. The central mission of the LCA is to create a community of scholars who work together to understand the existing learning culture, to share that understanding with others, and to enhance the learning environment for everyone. Through the Learning College Academy, Wallace State acknowledges employees as its most important asset and invests in their intellectual and professional development.
Goals
The Learning College Academy will
- Promote the principles of the learning college.
- Coordinate and market activities that promote excellence in teaching, learning, and service.
- Promote an environment for continuous learning.
- Encourage innovation and experimentation.
- Support employees in the integration of technology.
- Create and nurture a community of learners in their quest for excellence.
- Encourage conversations about teaching and learning.
- Mentor and assist new employees in their transition to the academy and the college environment.
