Current literature revealed the advances that the Vanguard Colleges were making through publications from the League for Innovation in the Community Colleges. Most importantly, our sister institution, Alabama Southern Community College, had joined the rural Vanguard Colleges and invited Wallace State into a partnership that might ignite system-wide excitement about the Learning College Movement.   We incorporated O'Banion's Principles into the Learning College Initiative objectives to definitively state that we embrace the core principles of the Learning College Movement from one of its founding members.
